In the past 4 years, Sony Creative Software has released 4 new versions of their editing software Sony Vegas Pro. Will Sony Vegas Pro 13 be announced and be granted a release date at IBC this September 2013 to continue Sonys’ recent trend in release dates?

In a press release on the 20th of August, Sony announced that Sony Creative Software will return yet again to the IBC Show in Amsterdam in September of 2013. However, there is no mention of a new version of Sony Vegas Pro. The press release states that “those interested in Vegas Pro 12” can visit the booth for demonstrations on how to use Vegas with 4K content.
Below is an excerpt from Sony’s press release:
“Those interested in Vegas Pro 12 and its 4K workflow can come to the booth for demonstrations on how to ingest, edit, and output 4K video content. Show attendees can also learn more about the new video and audio editing tools that increase efficiency and productivity, making it easier to create compelling, broadcast-quality videos.”
So does this mean that we won’t see any sneak previews of Sony Vegas Pro 13?
Not necessarily. SCS (Sony Creative Software) may be keeping quiet regarding the announcement of Sony Vegas Pro 13, but why would they? In previous years, Sony announced in press releases if a new version of Sony Vegas Pro would be demonstrated at the IBC Show.
In the past 3 years, Sony Vegas Pro has been released in the September-November period. If Sony Vegas Pro 13 was to receive a release date in this timeframe, the IBC Show in September would be the perfect time to announce the new version of the popular video editing software and tease the video editing community with hints to new features and updates.
What do you think? IBC Show begins on Friday 13th September 2013.
